Christmas frenzy

Yesterday after Holy Mass, I went to adoration for a few minutes. My mind was racing with distractions throughout Mass and in the chapel at adoration. So I knelt down and said to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, "I give you all these distractions and the racing of my mind. Please give me Your peace." I was ready to go on and on with other prayers asking God to take away the distractions... but guess what?! God immediately took away the restlessness and racing thoughts and instantly gave me His peace. Why should I be surprised? He's God, so of course He can do what He wants and answer our prayers in an instant.  The passage came to mind "Cast all your worries upon him because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7  It's God's Word and it's true. So in this busy time of running around in our bodies and minds, let us trust all to God and He will take care of everything.

"For You, O Lord, my soul in stillness waits. Truly my hope is in You."      (from an Advent Hymn by Marty Haugen)
